Trackside Rail Car Unloader

This trackside rail car unloader and densifyer is a permanently loca­ted vibrating unit that can empty rail pars in from two to three minutes depending on the type of material being handled.

Because it is permanently installed on a concrete pad along­side a rail track, this unit represents a radical new concept in un­loading (представляет совершенно новую концепцию в разгрузке вагонов) rail care. It offers several advantages over conventional sys­tems (имеет ряд преимуществ над обычными системами) such as crane-type and hopper vibrators currently being used.

Conveniently located alongside the track permits the user to bring the car that is to be unloaded to the unit instead of trans­porting the unit to the car.

The unit eliminates the excessive noise that is produced by conventional units. The unloader's design also minimizes the possi­bility of damaging the cars (возможность порчи вагонов), a frequent occurrence with certain type methods while providing a greater vib­rating force (создавая большую вибрирующую силу) for a more effici­ent unloading operation.

In operation, a rail car is rolled alongside the unloader. The operator then presses a button to inflate the unit's linear actua­tors against the side of the rail car that is to be unloaded, and the vibratory excitors are then energized. The rail car is then vibrated on its own steel coil, isolating support spring, causing the contents of the car to be emptied in matter of minutes.

Stabilized support legs on the discharge vibrator are rubber bushed and act as knuckle joints. As a result the linear actuators can axially deform without harm (деформироваться, принимать иную форму, без повреждений) and the unit's vibrating face can be pres­sed against non-flat or non-uniform car sides.

The discharge vibrator operates with s stroke of 1/8-inch at 1,710 CPM, with the excitors generating up to 40,000 pounds of dy­namic force (создавая динамическую силу в 40.000 фунтов).

When the unit is operated as a densifyer, highly aerated mate­rials can double the normal weight of bulk solids loaded in a rail car. This feature enables the users to save on shipping costs (сэ­кономить на стоимости погрузки) as well as the number of car requirements and car shuffling.

Because the unit is designed to operate in accordance with na­tural flow patterns, the RMS horsepower consumed per car is only 2 (только 2 лошадиные силы потребляемые каждой машиной). The unit operates quietly and does not damage the rail cars during either unloading or densifying operations.

When the discharger's li­near actuators are exten­ded against the side of the rail car and the unit is actuated, it turns the car into a huge, self-contained vibrator, re­sulting in rapid dischar­ge of its contents.
